Alert volume is an operating statistic, not a measure of effectiveness. A monitoring framework should identify behaviour relevant to the institution’s risks while supporting consistent investigation and escalation.
Reviews should trace the chain from risk assessment and scenario logic to data lineage, threshold governance, alert handling and regulatory reporting. Gaps in any link can undermine the whole system.
Tuning should be evidence-led. Reducing false positives is useful only if material risk coverage is preserved or improved.
